How I work

From scattered ideas to one plan

A maverick doesn't follow the herd. Every campaign, business, and family starts with a lot of moving pieces: ideas, worries, opinions, deadlines. My job is to pull them together into one solid plan, then do the work to see it through. That's the bull in our logo: scattered dots on one side, one solid shape on the other.

  1. 01

    Listen

Every idea on the table, including the ones nobody else wanted to hear.

  2. 02

    Sort

Find what actually moves the needle and cut what doesn't.

  3. 03

    Shape

Turn it into one clear, written plan you can stand behind.

  4. 04

    Show up

Execute it with you: doors, calls, proposals, pages, whatever it takes.

Should I run?

Six honest questions about readiness. There are no wrong answers. It's a starting point for a conversation.

1. Can you say in one sentence why you're running?
2. Does your family support the time it will take?
3. Could you ask 50 people you know for support or a donation?
4. Can you give 10+ hours a week to the campaign?
5. Do you know the district, its voters, and its issues?
6. Are you ready to knock on doors and talk to strangers?

Navigating family court in Colorado: what to expect

A plain-language overview to help you get your bearings. Every situation is different. This is general information, not legal advice.

1. Get oriented

Colorado's courts publish step-by-step instructions and forms for family law cases. Starting there helps you understand the process and the paperwork before making big decisions.

2. Filing and responding

A case starts when a petition is filed with the court, and the other party is formally notified. The court's self-help pages explain the forms and deadlines for each step.

3. Financial disclosures

Both sides generally exchange information about income, expenses, property, and debts. Gathering statements early makes this step much easier.

4. Children come first

When children are involved, parents work out a parenting plan covering time with each parent and decision-making. Many courts also require a parenting class. Keeping the focus on your kids' stability goes a long way.

5. Agreements, mediation, and final orders

Many families resolve some or all issues by agreement, often with a mediator's help. The court then reviews the agreements and issues final orders.

Jaylen Mosqueira

About

Hi, I'm Jaylen Mosqueira

I'm a Colorado native, raised in Arapahoe County by a strong family and a community of educators, coaches, and neighbors who gave me a lot. I grew up working in two small family-owned businesses, so I learned early how hard it is to build something and keep it going.

I earned a B.S. in Political Science, with a minor in Public Affairs, from Metropolitan State University of Denver. After college I worked on statewide and congressional campaigns, then spent three years at the State Capitol as a legislative aide, working on education, business, workforce, and more, and building relationships on both sides of the aisle. In 2022 I ran for the State House in my hometown district.

When people ask why I do this work, my answer is simple: it's the greatest way to help people. That's why I started Maverick Consultants in 2020, and it's why I advocate for supporting families and children through a better family law system. I'm a proud father to two amazing daughters.

  • 2022 Candidate, Colorado House District 38
  • 2019–2022 Legislative Aide to Rep. Lynch, House District 49
  • 2020 Field Director, Scott Tipton for Congress
  • 2020 Founded Maverick Consultants
